Members-Only Events:Recent Events• Halloween Zoo Night– October 28, 2011Halloween Zoo Night was a great success with over 200 people in attendance! Kenny the Falconer, the Grateful Dads and Classroom Safari provided exciting entertainment for the guests. Thank you to our sponsors: Cannonball Wines, Aletha & Denis Coleman, Roxy & Michele Rapp, Whole Foods Market-Palo Alto. • Moms & Muffins September 11, 2011On September 11, Members enjoyed breakfast at the Junior Museum & Zoo. The Bay Area Amphibian & Reptile Society, as well as fun butterfly crafts, provided fun entertainment for children. We would like to extend our gratitude to Izzy's Brooklyn Bagels, Lucky Supermarkets, Peet's Coffee & Tea, Piazza's Fine Foods and Safeway for their generous donations to make this event possible. • Buzzzz - JUNE 2011
Many families were in attendance for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and experienced our new hands-on exhibit all about bugs: Buzzzz. Grateful Dads performed, and BAARS brought some of their fun reptiles. We would like to thank Avid Bank, Cannonball Wine Company, Hobee’s, bebecakes cupcakery and Lucky Supermarket for their generous support of this special event. • Dads & Donuts, February 13, 2011Our annual Dads & Donuts event was held on February 13, 2011, at the Junior Museum & Zoo. This was an event for all members and close to 200 people attended! Guests enjoyed donuts donated by David Wright of Silicon Valley Risk & Insurance, coffee provided by Peet's Coffee & Tea, and fruit and juice donated by Lucky Supermarkets - a huge thanks goes out to our sponsors! A live performance by the Grateful Dads provided great entertainment, as well as the attendance of Bay Area Amphibian & Reptile Society. Thank you to all our volunteers who helped make this event a great success! • Halloween Zoo Night, October 29, 2010Halloween Zoo Night on October 29, 2010, proved to be one of our best events. Over 300 members attended and enjoyed the festive lighting and live entertainment. The bat-naming contest winners were also announced! Our generous sponsors, Pizza My Heart, Fraiche and Clif Bar, provided a variety of refreshment options. Special thanks to Luna the Moth, Miguel the Gargoyle, Classroom Safari and the Bay Area Amphibian & Reptile Society for making the evening a success.
• Moms & Muffins September 12, 2010Friends' Member families enjoyed a morning of breakfast and exclusive animal encounters at our annual Moms & Muffins event. A big THANK YOU to our generous sponsors, Hobee's, Peets Coffee, and Luckys. • Bobcat Ridge Opening Celebration, June 19, 2010The Friends of the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo proudly hosted the Bobcat Ridge Opening. Visitors of all ages delighted in the ribbon cutting ceremony of the newly unveiled Bobcat Ridge exhibit and appreciated the Zoo's freshened up face-lift, including new landscaping and paving. Our Members were treated to a special Sneak Peek Breakfast sponsored by Peet's Coffee, Hobee's, House of Bagels, and Clif Bar. Children enjoyed face painting and up-close animal encounters with birds of prey and various reptiles.Other Past Events...• Halloween Zoo Night, October 30, 2009Read more... Our October 30, 2009 event was a spectacular success. Over 400 members attended and were able to experience close-up animal encounters with our guest animals brought by Classroom Safari, BAARS, and Kenny the Falconer. • Bobcat Ridge Groundbreaking, September 26, 2009Read more... The Friends hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for Bobcat Ridge on Saturday, September 26, 2009. • Exhibit Party, June 27, 2008Read more... The Friends hosted a members-only opening night party for the new museum exhibit, "Clean Green Energy Machines!" A big thank you to Roxy Rapp, Pizza My Heart, and Cannonball Winery for sponsoring the event. This exciting exhibit explores green living and renewable energy. With additional funding, we hope to expand the exhibit and open a second phase in April 2009, to coincide with Earth Day. If you haven't seen the new exhibit, please stop by the museum soon.
• Dads & Donuts, April 6, 2008Read more... Our April 2008 Dads & Donuts was a great success! Over 125 member families joined us for a Sunday morning of Krispy Kreme Donuts, Peet's Coffee, fruit, yogurt, and juice. A special performance by Dan Chan the Magic Man was a crowd pleaser, as well as some exciting hands-on exhibits with the animals and Zoo staff.
